Record-Breaking Music Performance Hits Beijing

Approximately 5,393 people playing Angklung, an Indonesian traditional music instrument in Beijing established a new Guinness World Record on Sunday.

The previous record was achieved in 2011 by the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC, USA.

Under the instruction of Orchestra conductor Daeng Udjo, audiences from China and other parts of the world played two complete songs by Angklung.

This world record breaking attempt was organized by the Indonesian embassy in Beijing.

Angklung is a traditional music instrument made of bamboos, originating from West Java Province. It was recognized by UNESCO as the world’s intangible cultural heritage in 2011.
